SURABAYA (13 November 2023) – Indonesia picked up their second point in Group A of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2023 when they held Panama to a 1-1 draw at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium earlier this evening.
This follows Indonesia’s 1-1 draw against Ecuador in their opening game a few days earlier.
But this time around, it was Indonesia who had to play catch up when Panama’s ldemar Castillo unleashed a right footed shot from the centre of the Indonesian box for the lead just before the break.
Just five minutes into the second half, it was Arkhan Kaka who scored again for Indonesia when he headed home the cross from Welber Jardim to tie the game.
And even with the eight minutes of added time, it failed to change the end result as both teams had to share the spoils.
In the meantime, in the other match of the group, Ecuador picked up their first full points of the game when they beat Morocco 2-0 – off a brace from Michael Bermúdez (62nd minute penalty and 93rd).
