BANGKOK (5 Nov 2012) – Buriram United made up for their disappointing season in the Thai Premier League by winning their second FA Cup crown in two years after beating Army United 2-1 in the final that was played at the Supachalasai Stadium.
Striker Goran Jerkovic – the top scorer in the competition – nailed a brace with goals in the 37th and 63rd minute. Issarapong Lilakorn scored the only goal for Army eight minutes to the end.
With the win, Buriram also took home THB 3 million (USD 97,000) in prize money as well as a place in next season’s AFC Champions League qualifying round.
Buriram will also be playing in the League Cup final this weekend where they will be up against Ratchaburi at the Thammasat Stadium.
