HANOI (11 Jan 2013) – With less than a month to go to their first game in the qualifying round of the AFC Asian Cup 2015, Vietnam are still without a chief coach following the refusal of former star Le Huynh Duc to fill the hot seat.
The VFF (Vietnam Football Federation) had a few days ago announced that they had reached an agreement with Huynh Duc – the chief coach of V-League champions SHB Da Nang – to take charge of the national team for the two matches qualifying matches against United Arab Emirates on 6 February and then Hong Kong on 22 March.
But since then, Huynh Duc had refused the offer.
“I have rejected the invitation to take the national wheel as I cannot arrange the schedule,” said Huynh Duc. “I’ve reviewed the schedule of SHB Da Nang and realized that I cannot do well at both my club and the national team.
Other than having to defend their V-League crown, SHB Da Nang are also involved in the AFC Cup this year.
