HANOI (2 Oct 2013) – After edging the youth side of FC Galatasaray 2-1 last week, Vietnam Under-23 continued with their development when they beat a ten-man Santos U23 team 3-1 at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
In the Ho Chi Minh City Challenge Cup, the Vietnam U23 found the back of the net off Le Van Thang’s brace (43rd and 82nd minute) and another from Mac Hong Quan (90th minute).
Santos, who lost Mascos Damiao in the 59th minute to a red card, scored their only goal off Pedro Silva’s freekick in the 88th minute.
The win was Vietnam’s fifth in six friendlies as they continued their march towards the SEA Games at the end of the year.
Vietnam will attend a 12-day training course in Myanmar next week before taking part in the Binh Duong Television Cup at the end of the month.
