NAYPITAW (16 Dec 2013) – The Thai women Futsal team are in full control of a place in the final here at the SEA Games when they picked up their third win on a trot when they disposed of Malaysia 3-1 here at the Naypyitaw Futsal Stadium.
With only the top two teams from the round robin group playing in the final to fight for gold medal Thailand, the defending champions seem poised to pick up their second gold medal in two editions of the biennial championship.
And this afternoon, the Thai girls certainly showed their pedigree when Praephan Hengphonghio scored the opener early in the fourth minute before Orathai Srimanee (13th minute) and then Vasinee Pakthongchai (15th) nailed two quick goals within a space of three minutes for them to comfortable at 3-0 in front at the half.
Orathai’s goal was her fourth in the competition making her the top scorer at the moment.
Malaysia begun stronger into the second half and just a minute in, Fatin Shahida Azmi found the space to slot the ball in past Thai keeper Pannipa Juijaroen.
Thailand tried to add to the tally soon after that, but it was to no avail as Malaysian custodian Noorhayanti Mohd Salleh kept it tight at the back.
