NAYPYITAW (12 Dec 2013) – The Vietnam women’s Futsal team scored their second win in the event here at the SEA Games when they beat Indonesia 3-1 in the match that was played at the Wunna Theikdi Futsal Centre.
The Vietnam women had earlier thrashed hosts Myanmar 6-0 in their first game of the round-robin event.
“We are chasing another shot at the title, so it is good that we pick up another win and another full points,” said Vietnam team manager Phan Anh Tu, whose team was the bridesmaid to Thailand two years ago in Indonesia.
But the game was anything but easy when compared to their first match against Myanmar. The Vietnam girls had to pull out all the stop as they pushed hard against a determined side from Indonesia, who were blanked 4-0 by defending champions Thailand.
With the score all tied at the end of an exhilarating first half, Vietnam changed their approach somewhat and started firing from outside the D. And it paid off, where in the 31st minute, Thi Thuy Trang Tran grabbed the lead before Ngoc Hoa Trinh then doubled it lead two minutes later from almost the same angle.
Clearly rattled, Indonesia pushed hard in search of their first goal of the competition and just a minute later, Rani Mulyasari managed to find the back of the net to beat Vietnam keeper Kim Ngan Truong.
But the fightback was a tad too late as Vietnam then added their third goal of the event off Thuy Trang fabulous individual effort after weaving past Indonesian defender Fitri Rosdiana to score.
The loss for Indonesia was their second and where they will face Malaysia next in two days.
