JAKARTA (24 Nov 2013) – Indonesia won the inaugural MNC Cup 2013 when they made it a perfect three out of three wins by beating Maldives 2-1 in the final round robin tie tonight at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
The Indonesians had earlier beaten Laos 3-0 and then thrashed Papua New Guinea 6-0 in the second tie.
And tonight, Maldives put up a better show to take the lead in the 12th minute through Ali Fasir before the homesters fought back with the equaliser with a left-footed shot off Ferinando Pahabol ten minutes later.
But Dendi Santoso emerged as the hero for Indonesia with the winner in the 78th minute following a cross from Alfin Tuasalamony.
In an earlier match, Laos beat Papua New Guinea 3-1 to finish second in the competition. Khonesavanh Sihavong found the net twice in the 35th anf 57th minute. Villayout Sayyabounsou added the third goal in the 88th minute as Papua scored their only goal in the competition in the 76th minute off Ronald Conn.

In the meantime, Singapore beat Cambodia 1-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium to level the series. Cambodia had two days ago beaten Singapore by the same score line at the same venue.
And tonight, Shafiq Ghani’s goal in the 76th minute was the only thing that separated the two teams.
