SLEMAN (29 Oct 2013) – Indonesia will take on Timor Leste in a friendly tomorrow – minus 11 players that have been dropped from the squad.
The game will be played at the Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman.
“There are certain aspects which we need to consider like technical quality of the individual, tactical and also physical conditioning of the players,” said Rahmad. “The important thing is the quality of the players with regards to the needs of the team.”
Among those players which have been left out are Syamsir Alam, who plays for DC United in the Major Soccer League in the US as well as David Lally, Agung Supriyanto and Rasyid Assahid Bakri.
Rahmad opted to do without these players after watching them in action in two friendlies – a 1-0 win over PSS Sleman and 2-1 loss to Persibat Batang.
“But that does not mean that all of them have been totally dropped from the SEA Games squad,” he added. “A few will still be registered for the SEA Games, just to that we have the back up in terms of injuries.
