PETALING JAYA (2 April 2013) – The result might have been unexpected but for Harimau Muda chief coach Ong Kim Swee, the 7-1 thrashing they suffered at the hands of the Georgia Under-21 team had given his squad some invaluable lesson.
Harimau Muda or the Malaysian Under-23 team is currently in Europe where they will be based for the next several months in preparation for the SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar later in the year.
“The loss to Georgia is a good lesson for the team,” said Kim Swee (pix), whose team had drawn 1-1 against the Slovakian Under-19 team previously. “They gave us a lot of pointers of the strength and weaknesses of the team when compared to the European standard.
“The loss has made the team even more determined to do better and we will work harder for sure.”
Harimau Muda’s next match will be against Slovakian side Zilina tomorrow and then against the Norwegian Under-19 squad three days later in Budapest.
