BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (14 Aug 2013) – Brunei’s only professional club DPMM FC gave the national Under-23 team some tough lessons when they beat the latter 2-1 in a friendly at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.
The Brunei youth team will take on their counterparts from Indonesia in a friendly on Thursday in Jogjakarta as part of their preparation for the SEA Games later in the year.
“I am very happy with the team’s performance, especially in the second-half,” said Feisal Eusoff, Brunei U23 manager. “It was a very good fight, but we must continue to work harder.
“We must work as a team. One player’s mistake can cost the whole team so I need all players to work and focus throughout the match.
“There were a lot of chances in the game, especially in the second half (but) we failed to convert it and we must work hard on that.”
Brazilian defender Tales Ricarte dos Santos (in the 35th minute) and Lithuanian striker Arturas Rimkevicius (50th) scored one goal each for DPMM while striker Adi Said scored for the U23 in the 55th minute.
