MANDALAY (16 Dec 2013) – A hat-trick from veteran Anootsara Maijarern led Thailand to a 5-0 thrashing of Laos as they progressed into the semi-finals from Group B in the women’s football event here at the SEA Games.
Thailand, the losing finalists in 2009 since the sport was skipped in Jakarta two years ago, had beaten Malaysia 6-1 in the other match of the group two days ago.
And today at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay, the Thai girls once again showed no mercy when Anootsara found the opener 12th minute before Ainon Pancha added the second goal of the game in the 26th minute.
Thailand trooped off 3-0 at the half when Anootsara (pix) slammed the second goal of the game in the 44th minute as Laos became aware that a defeat is imminent.
By the time, Anootsara completed her hat-trick in the 61st minute, the game was already over as striker Taneekarn Dangda then finished things off nine minutes to the end.
