HANOI (3 Nov 2011) – With their domination in the South East Asian region beyond contention, Thailand are the team to beat in the men’s Futsal event at the SEA Games later this month.
Vietnam chief Futsal coach Sergio Gargelli said that if the team harbours any intention of winning the gold medal at the biennial championship, then they will have to aspire to take down Thailand.
“I do not know much about Thailand but a team who participated in the World Cup with strong players under an experienced coach will not be an easy rival,” said Gargelli.
“However, in football anything can happen. We have seriously prepared for the tournament and now the players are excited and I believe we can beat Thailand.
“The importance here is players should be confident.”
Vietnam are now on a 12-day training course in Spain where they will play several matches against local clubs before playing two matches against the Qatari national team in Doha.
For the SEA Games, Vietnam are in Group A against the Philippines and Indonesia, while Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar are in Group B.
