SINGAPORE (17 Sept 2011) – The Singapore Under-23 national team will begin their preparation for the 26th edition of the SEA Games in Indonesia at the end of the year by taking part in the Eximback Cup which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 20-24 Sept 2011.
The FA of Singapore (FAS) announced their U23 squad this week with the majority of players coming from the Courts Young Lions squad.
Out of a squad of 20 players, only three are not from the Young Lions and they are defender Ali Hudzaifi Mohd Yusof and midfielder Mohammad Firdaus Kasman from Tampines Rovers and also Gary Loo from Tanjong Pagar.
But the list of players for the Eximbank is by no means exhaustive for the SEA Games in November where others will also be considered after the tournament in Vietnam.
Other than Singapore, the other participating U23 teams are Vietnam, Korea University and also Aspire Qatar, who have come in place of DPR Utara.
Singapore will open their campaign against Aspire Qatar before their second match against Korea University and then hosts Vietnam in their final round robin tie.
