SINGAPORE (2 Nov 2011) – Izwan Mahbud is one relieved lad. After sustaining a freak injury to his ankle just last week, the 21-year-old goalkeeper made an expeditious recovery to make the Singapore provisional squad for the SEA Games next week.
“It was not a really serious injury actually but I’m glad that it is over. I have already seen the doctor and he has given me the green light to play,” said Izwan.
“I can kick the ball well, so there’s really nothing to worry about.”
The Young Lions are placed in a tough Group A of the biennial championship against hosts Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia.
Group B are Vietnam, Laos, Timor Leste, Myanmar, Brunei and the Philippines.
