JAKARTA (8 Oct 2011) – The start was fabulous but Indonesian chief coach Rahmad Darmawan has warned his chargers against complacency.
Indonesia blasted Cambodia by half a dozen goals in their first game in Group A at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium last night with goals off Titus Bonai in the 27th minute, Patrich Wanggai (33rd and 40th), Dwi Cahyo (37th), Andik Vermansyah (81st) and Ramdani Lestaluhu (83rd).
But as Rahmad pointed out afterwards that while he lauds the performance of his chargers, he is also concerned of complacency creeping into their game.
“It was a good start don’t get me wrong but the players also have to realised that it is just one game. It was a good opening performance and they should be credited for playing so well” said Rahmad at the post match press conference.
“Yes, we have beaten Cambodia but there are other games to play for and they should concentrate for these upcoming matches.”
Rahmad admitted that he was surprised by the performance of his chargers where at the start, he was a little concerned that they might be a little slow off the mark.
“First game is always tough, what more when you playing in front of their home crowd. But the lads did not show any hang-ups and they just went for it,” added Rahmad.
“Cambodia put up quite a fight at the start but the boys managed to improvise for the win.”
Indonesia will have a rest day tomorrow.
