JAKARTA (27 Oct 2011) – A 5-0 thrashing of Timor Leste in a friendly this week has not brought the smile to Indonesia national Under-23 squad Rahmad Darmawan.
The goalscorers for Indonesia in the match that was played at the Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno were Abdul Rahman in the 5th minute, Ferdinand Sinaga (7th), Patrick Wanggai (16th), Egi Melgiansyah (21st) and Syamsir Alam (72nd).
“Honestly, I’m not so satisfied with our performance. Our opponents did not play quickly enough, which made it easier for us to intercept the ball and cover ourselves,” said Rahmad.
“We won, but the quality of the performance was not good. We will take this game as a lesson in our preparation for the SEA Games.”
For Timor Leste, the loss of Wellington Rocha to a second yellow card offence in the 47th minute made them even more determined when they conceded only one goal in the second half.
Indonesia’s first game at the SEA Games will be against Cambodia on 9 Nov 2011.
