JAKARTA (16 Nov 2011) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have offered bonuses to both their men and women’s Futsal teams ahead of their opening matches at the SEA Games in Cibubur tomorrow.
However, the exact quantum for winning the gold medal at the biennial championship has yet to be decided.
Djohar Arifin, the president of PSSI, made the announcement before the naming of the squad this week alongside Bennard Limbong, the chairman of the PSSI Disciplinary Committee.
“Representing the country is great honour and every player has the responsibility to put up only their best performance. They have to be committed for the task that lies ahead,” said Djohar.
“The PSSI are ready to give bonuses to both teams should they prove successful in winning the gold medals. It is not only the PSSI who will give them rewards but the country will also give the players their recognition.”
In the men’s division, it is expected that Thailand will still be the main focus at this year’s meet by virtue of being champions in 2007. Futsal was not competed in Laos in 2009.
But Vietnam have also been making great stride over the past year and with better preparation, they might also pose a challenge to Indonesia and Thailand.
In the women’s division, Thailand are the defending champions.
