JAKARTA (4 Oct 2011) – Defending champions Malaysia will begin their campaign at the SEA Games this week without the offensive capabilities of both Gary Steven Robbat and Wan Zack Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor.
Both players are injured which left chef coach Ong Kim Swee with little choice but to leave out the duo in favour of more fresh legs.
“I don’t think that our campaign will be adversely affected by the loss of the two players. We have several capable players in reserves like what I pointed out after our last friendly against Laos,” said Kim Swee.
‘‘We still have the likes of Ahmad Fakri Saarani, Syahrul Azwari and also Baddrol Bakhtiar alongside Wan Zaharul Nizam on the left, so we will be well fortified. This situation has also allowed us to take on Mohd Nazmi Faiz and also Yong Kuong Yong at the centre of the park.”
Among the other players dropped for the Jakarta event are Mohd Zamir Selamat, Muhd Affizie Faisal Mamat and Nazirul Naim Che Hashim.
The Malaysians,w ho arrived last night, have named Baddrol as the team captain with goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat as the vice-captain.
