PETALING JAYA (2 Oct 2011) – The Malaysian national Under-23 side will take on their senior counterparts in a friendly that will be played at the Wisma FAM field later today.
The U23 side under chief coach Ong Kim Swee reported for camp this week in preparation for the SEA Games which will be hosted by Indonesia next month.
“Datuk Rajagobal (the national coach) requested this game in preparation for the friendly against Australia (on 7 October 2011 in Canberra). For us, it is another game in our belt even though we have just reported for centralised training,” said Kim Swee (pix).
“What can I promised is that every single one of the 21 players that we have with us will get the chance to play. Some of the SEA Games players will form part of the national squad for the match against Australia.”
Among the players who will follow Datuk Rajagobal to Canberra are Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, Zubir Azmi, Muslim Ahmad, Mahali Jasuli, K. Gurusamy, Izzaq Faris Ramlan, Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim, Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria, Asraruddin Putra Omar, Baddrol Bakhtiar and Yong Kuong Yong.
“This one week will be a useful opportunity for the newcomers like See Kok Luen, Abdul Aziz Ismail, Syazwan Roslan, D. Saarvindran and K Reuben) to show me what they are capable of,” added Kim Swee.
The next assignment for Kim Swee and his boys would be the VFF Cup 2011 which will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 19-23 October.
