KUALA LUMPUR (16 Oct 2011) – Two late goals gave the Malaysian Under-23 team a 2-0 win over the Nepal national team in a friendly match that was played at the Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) Stadium last night.
Following a first-half deadlock, Izzaq Faris Ramlan finally broke the deadlock for the homesters with the lead on 81st minute before Yong Kuang Yong added the finishing touch with the second goal a minute to the end.
“We did not play well in the first half. We need to create more goal scoring opportunities and put them away,” said Ong Kim Swee, the chief coach of the Malaysian Under-23 team.
Other than for the SEA Games in Jakarta next month, the team is also being moulded for the qualifying round of the 2012 Olympic Games.
