JAKARTA (21 Nov 2011) – The temperature in Senayan is rising fast, and it’s got nothing to do with global warming. It’s purely due to the hordes of fans and their vehicles that have started to jam-up the Senayan Complex. From early this morning, thousands of eager Indonesian football fans have already started making their way here, many of them out to purchase tickets.
Over 100,000 fans, possibly more, are expected to converge at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium today. And many still do not have their tickets. Yesterday, over-eager fans set fire to a ticketing booth because the tickets were sold out.
Later media reports stated that only 7,000 tickets were sold yesterday way short of the thousands who had lined up for hours under the scorching heat. Still, it was not reason enough to behave the way they did.
The remaining seats will go on sale today and probably because the fans have a whiff of victory today, they are not taking any chances and arriving early to ensure they get their tickets.
Tickets are priced between RP 25,000 and RP 2 million per ticket.
