SINGAPORE (30 August 2009) – TTM Samut Sakhon took a big step towards a place in the semi-finals of the Singapore Cup last night when they beat DPMM FC 3-1 in the first-leg, quarter-finals that was played at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
Paul Bekombo’s goals in each half (16th and 61st minute) helped the Thai side to carve out the advantage for the return tie as Bekombo strike partner Aly Camara sealed the win with the third goal a minute from the final whistle. DPMM FC’s only goal in the match came off Abu Bakar Mahari in the 76th minute. But DPMM could still make the next round of the Singapore Cup provided they can overcome the two-goal deficit in the return tie tomorrow at the Jurong West Stadium. “I feel we were a little bit unlucky because we could have equalised when it was still 2-1 but they hit us on the counter-attack and we let in the third goal,” said Vjeran Simunic, the head coach for DPMM. |
