PHNOM PENH (27 June 2010) – A solitary second half strike from Chhim Sambo gave Naga Corp FC the full points against National Defense Ministry FC as Khemara Keila emerged triumphant in an ill-tempered match against Chhma Khmao FC in an exciting weekend of the Metfone Cambodian League 2010.
Defending champions Naga Corp were made to sweat against National Defense Ministry where following a first half deadlock, it required a strike from Chhim Sambo in the 55th minute before they were able to win the points and stay at the top of the standings. With the win, Naga have picked up 28 points from 12 matches – having played a game more than second-placed Phnom Penh Crown FC with 25 points from 11 games. In the meantime in a match which saw five yellow cards being flashed which also resulted in a red card on Chhma Khmao’s Som Chanravuth, Khemara Keila were thankful to win 6-4. Samot Dalin gave Khemara the best of start with the lead on 10th minute as Chhma Khmao captain Sok Kolamara then drew level for the visitors in the 16th minute. Samot then nailed his second of the afternoon in the 19th minute as Hou Sambo then put them further in front in the 21st minute for Khemara to be 3-1 in front. The score at the half was 5-2 following Suon Makara (30th minute) and Ek Vanak’s goal (39th minute) for Khemara before Chhma Khmao’s second goal of the afternoon came just before the break from Bout Chanra. Ek Vanak then completed his brace with the second goal for Khemara in the 52nd minute as Chhma Khmao pressed on with two further goals in the 72nd minute (Meak Chhdaravuth) and Som Chanravuth (87th minute) to put the score at 6-4. But in their eagerness to find the two equalising goals, Chhma Khmao were punished when goal scorer Som Chanravuth picked up two yellow cards within the space of three minutes (88th and 90th minute) to be red carded out of the game.
