BANGKOK (16 Feb 2017) – Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will begin official visits to Thailand and Indonesia on Friday, to strengthen the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Asian football family and discuss ways to further develop football in the continent.
Shaikh Salman will be accompanied by the AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, and will engage with the Presidents and senior officials from the Football Association of Thailand and Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) during the visits.
The AFC President expressed his intent to identify and address the challenges in the two Southeast Asian nations. He added that he was looking forward to enhancing the cooperation with the two Member Associations to serve the common aspirations for football development in Asia.
Shaikh Salman said: “Thailand and Indonesia are well positioned to strengthen their positions on the Asian football map, and we recognise the efforts undertaken to develop the game in both countries. We look forward to visiting these two countries and the opportunity to better understand the programmes and strategies deployed in Thailand and Indonesia at all levels”.
The AFC President pointed out that the continuous communication with Member Associations will continue to form a key component of the AFC’s approach as the Confederation strives to bring to life its Vision and Mission under the banner of One Asia, One Goal.
