JAKARTA (15 Feb 2010) – In spite of the two defeats the team suffered in their tour of Thailand, the Indonesia national Futsal squad still feel confident that they are preparing well for the ASEAN qualifiers of the AFC Futsal Championship next week.
The Indonesian squad conceded a 2-1 loss to former Thai Futsal champions Port Authority of Thailand in their first friendly before losing to the Thai Under-21 squad by the same scoreline a few days later. The squad under new head coach Robby Hartono is being prepared for the ASEAN qualifiers of the AFC Futsal Championship in Jakarta on 20-25 February. In both friendlies, captain Sayan Karmadi scored the only goal for Indonesia. “We should not look at just the scoreline considering that there have been vast improvements in the overall performance of the players,” said Robby. “They played to tactics and they also adapted to the strategy which has been planned. As such, we made several good offensive plays and created dangerous moments for our opponents. “And unlike the first friendly, the players controlled their emotions well this time round and minimized mistakes. So we are quite optimistic that we should be able to put up a good performance in the qualifiers.” Indonesia’s first game in the qualifiers will be against Myanmar on 21 February. |
