JAKARTA (26 Jan 2011) – Indonesia national coach Alfred Riedl has made his announcement the 25 players which will carry the country’s challenge for the qualifying round of the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London.
The 25 players selected were chosen from the several trials conducted earlier this month by Riedl and his assistants and where more than 80 candidates took part.
In the meantime, Ruben Warbanaran might not be able to join the team as he is still nursing a thigh injury while there’s every opportunity that another ‘import’ Jordy de Kat might make the squad.
Jordy attended training this week with Riedl quite impressed with his shooting ability.
“Jordy is quite impressive and he can lead the attack even though this week we put him at the centre of the park. But he is still good with the passes,” added Riedl.
“But that does not mean that he will earn an automatic place. We still have to see whether he can be part of an effective squad.”
Indonesia’s first game in the qualifiers is on 23 February at home to Turkmenistan.
