JAKARTA (29 May 2010) – Newly-appointed Indonesia national coach Alfred Riedl will begin his journey of moulding a new team for the AFF Cup 2010 by identifying 50 players to undergo a selection process.
The 50 players who have been short listed will undergo training and selection in Makassar dan Jakarta. Riedl unveiled a master plan for the formation of the new Indonesia national squad with the emphasis not only on players’ selection but also having calibre personalities in the management. “The decision of who will make the team will not be based on who I like and who I don’t like – it will be very objective and depends largely on current performance,” added Riedl. In the meantime, the Indonesia national squad welcomed new faces in Dr. Aditya as the team doctor and Mathias Ibo as the physiotherapist. Widodo C. Putro still remains as the assistant coach alongside Eddy Harto as the goalkeeper coach – the two survivors of the 1991 SEA Games team when Indonesia won the gold medal in Manila. “We have to have the master plan in order to reach the target which has been set,“ added Riedl. |
