BANGKOK (5 Jan 2009) – Following the disappointment of falling at the final hurdle of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008, powerhouse Thailand are looking at success in the King’s Cup which they will be playing host at the end of the month.
Head coach Peter Reid admitted that he was very disappointed that his team did not win the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 but said he was looking forward to new challenges this month with the Asian Cup qualifiers and the King’s Cup tournament. “I am still feeling down at not winning the Suzuki Cup, but we must look forward and work together,” said Reid. The former Sunderland manager will begin the Asian Cup 2011 qualifying campaign against Jordan in Amman on 14 January. Thailand then hosts the 39th King’s Cup in Phuket from 21-23 Jan. “We will stick to the same squad as the AFF Suzuki Cup because there is not enough time to make any changes,” Reid added. He said he was confident that his team will beat Jordan and also win the King’s Cup. |
