JAKARTA (May 8, 2007) – Jamaica has been confirmed to take on Asian Cup 2007 co-hosts Indonesia in a friendly next month in Solo.
The match against the Reggae Boys will be part of the long process of preparation designed by the panel of coaches which include Ivan Venkov Kolev, Syamsuddin Umar and Alexander Kirilov. The Indonesia national team which is currently in Samarinda until the end of the month will take on Jamaica on June 21 at the Stadion Manahan in Solo. The match follows the cancellation of the earlier planned game against Uruguay in a test match at the venue of the Asian Cup 2007 – Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno – on June 6. Instead, the Indonesia national team will play Hong Kong on June 1 and then Singapore two days later at Bung Karno. Another friendly game has been planned for June 30, probably against United Arab Emirates at the Stadion Maguwoharjo in Sleman although the possibility of other international matches as part of the run-up programme will depend on the match fees requested. The team which started their camp last week in Kalimantan will play against local clubs first until the end of the month before moving on to harder opponents as they progress through the towns of Surabaya and Malang and on until they reach Jakarta. |
