HANOI (10 May 2009) – Former Vietnam women’ football captain Doan Kim Chi has been recalled to the Vietnam national squad preparing for the qualifying round of the Asian Women’s Football Championship to be held in Thailand on July 3-12, 2009.
Vietnam women football coach Chen Yun Fat and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) felt that the inclusion of Yun Fat will be invaluable to the team’s campaign. The women’s team will begin centralized training on May 24 at the Thanh Long Sports Centre and where this time round, Yun Fat has included several new faces including goalkeeper Nguyen Thanh Hoa of Vietnam Coal and Minerals, Tran Thi Thu and Nguyen Thi Nguyet from Ha Nam. In the meantime, Vietnam national coach Henrique Calisto has decided to call up suspended Hanoi ACB Club half-back Pham Thanh Luong in preparation for the friendly match against Olympiakos. Thanh Luong is currently serving a three-match suspension and had to pay a VND5 million (USD284) handed down by the VFF for insulting a referee in the match between his club and Tay Ninh. “VFF’s penalty on Thanh Luong is only effective for the V-League championship. He can join the national squad if coach Calisto wants to have him,” said VFF’s Nguyen Trong Giap. The Vietnam national team are being prepared for the friendly match against Olympiakos on May 14. Other than Thanh Luong, the other players who have been called to play in the game against Olympiakos are Le Cong Vinh and Minh Phuong. |
