SINGAPORE (17 Feb 2012) – The much-improved performance of the LIONSXII team in the on-going Malaysian Super League has caught the eye of Singapore chief coach Radojko Avramovic where he has decided to give a recall to striker Agu Casimir and defender Baihakki Khaizan for the team’s next assignment.
The duo were dropped from the Singapore national team at the end of 2010 after what was felt as a disappointing performance at the AFF Suzuki Cup the same year.
But the two lads have been commanding in the Malaysian Super League with the LIONSXII team now occupying the fourth spot in the 14-team league.
Singapore will play their final Group A match of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on 29 February 2012 where they will be up against Iraq at the Al-Arabi Stadium in Qatar. After five matches, the Lions have yet to pick up a point.
Other than the two, Avramovic has also called on LIONSXII keeper Izwan Mahbud to provide some challenge to veteran Hassan Sunny alongside newcomer Joey Sim from Balestier Khalsa FC.
