SINGAPORE (4 June 2012) – Three-times ASEAN champions Singapore were served with a reality check as they prepare for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 when they fell to a 1-0 loss to Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Stadium.
The only goal in the game came off Lam Ka Wai in the 35th minute.
“The positive sign I can take from this match is the encouraging performance of the young players such as striker Ahmad Fahmie, Hyrulnizam and midfielder Safirul Sulaiman,” said Radojko Avramovich, the chief coach of Singapore.
Singapore’s next friendly in the run-up to the AFF Suzuki Cup this November will be against Malaysia on 8 June at the Jalan Besar Stadium before the return tie in Kuala Lumpur four days later.
