PETALING JAYA (15 June 2009) – Malaysia Under-23 head coach K. Rajaogobal is dissatisfied with the performance of his chargers – in spite of the 1-0 win they scored against their counterparts from Indonesia.
The former helmsman from Selangor said that there are still a lot of things which needed work before the team can say that they are well-prepared for the SEA Games in December in Laos. “The win is good for the morale of the team but they will still need to do a lot of hard work,” said Rajagobal. “The players worked hard and they got the result the wanted but the overall performance is still not what it should be.“ The Malaysians started strongly and dominated much of the exchange in the first half. But after striker Mohd Zaquan Adha blasted the lead for Malaysia in the 41st minute, the homesters lost their shape and that allowed Indonesia to take much of the control in the second half. “At the moment, we are just testing out players. The core of the team is there already but we will need some reinforcements in several key positions. I hope that we can finalise the squad some two months before the SEA Games – that would be ideal,“ added Rajagobal. Among the Malaysian youngsters who were given the chance to see action in the match were Mohd Azmi Muslim, K. Gurusamy and Mohd Fandi Othman. |
