PETALING JAYA (13 April 2009) – Harimau Muda head coach K. Rajagobal has been announced as the man who will lead the Malaysia Under-23 squad for the SEA Games in Laos at the end of the year.
This follow a recent Council meeting of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) where the Malaysian national body chose to announce Rajagobal as the U23 head coach instead of making public an outright national coach after the departure of B. Sathianathan. The FAM have also made the decision that Malaysia will be represented by the U23 team for the Merdeka Tournament in August and not the senior national team. Datuk Redzuan Sheikh Ahmad, the deputy president of the FAM pointed out that they will still need time to name the national coach at this point in time. “We are still in talks with the main candidate and also it is difficult for him to leave his team in mid-season,” said Redzuan. “Furthermore, the national team do not have any big assignment this year so the focus will be on preparing a team for the SEA Games.” Other than Rajagobal, the other candidates for the post of national coach are K. Devan (Selangor), Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah (Kedah) and Dollah Salleh (Shahzan Muda). |
