HO CHI MINH CITY (24 July 2010) – The race to emerge as the best in Vietnam is still wide open as no single team has been able to exert their presence in resounding form in the V-League.
Following the unpredictable form of several teams, Hanoi T&T, Dong Thap, and Binh Duong are jostling for position heading into the 21st match day of the V-League. Hanoi T&T are now the leaders with 37 points – two points ahead of Dong Thap, who have the same points as Binh Duong but stole second with a better head-to-head record. Both Hanoi T&T and Becamex Binh Duong suffered defeats in their mid-week matches with leaders Hanoi going down to visiting Hai Phong Cement 2-1. Dark-horses Dong Thap reduced the gap with the leaders to two points after thrashing Hoa Phat Ha Noi 4-1 and will meet Song Lam Nghe An in their next match. Should Dong Thap beat Song Lam Nghe An, they will have the chance of topping the table, which would bolster their dream of lifting V-League title for the first time. The V-League title is still open to Da Nang, Ninh Binh and Hoang Anh Gia Lai who are only seven points or less behind the action with six rounds remaining. Megastar Nam Dinh and Navibank Sai Gon still run the biggest risk of relegation while the heat is on in the battle for the play-off ticket for Lam Son Thanh Hoa, Dong Tam Long An and Song Lam Nghe An. |
