HO CHI MINH CITY (8 May 2013) – Vietnam’s international midfielder Huynh Quoc Anh and goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh were regarded as the best in the country when they each won the Golden Ball Award for the men and women’s division respectively last night.
Following a three-year ban from football after a match-fixing scandal in 2005, Quoc Anh made a successful return to SHB Da Nang to lead them to the V-League crown last season.
In the women’s category, Kieu Trinh completed the double where after winning the accolade as the best in ASEAN at the AFF Awards last month, she went on to win the Golden Ball after being part of the squad that won the AFF Women’s Championship in 2012.
The Best Foreign Player award went to SHB Da Nang’s Argentinean striker Sebastian Gaston Merlo.
