JAKARTA (20 May 2015) – PT Liga Indonesia – the company tasked with organizing the Indonesian Super League – will organize the QNB Indonesia Champions Cup 2015.
Regarded as a pre-season tournament, the QNB Indonesia Champions Cup will see the 18 teams which were supposed to be playing in the QNB League 2015 to be divided into three groups with six teams each.
The teams will play in a home and away format.
The host teams are Persipura, Persib and Arema Cronus with the groupings as follows –
Group A: Arema Cronus, Persija, Bali United Pusam, Semen Padang, PS Barito Putera, Persiram
Group B: Persipura, Pusamania Borneo FC, PSM Makassar, Perseru Serui, Persela, Mitra Kukar
Group C: Persib, Persebaya, Persiba Balikpapan, Sriwijaya FC, Pelita BR, Persegres Gresik United
“This tournament is a long time coming. Players, fans and enthusiasts alike have been waiting for this championship,” said Joko Driyono, the Chief Executive Officer of PT Liga Indonesia.
The winning team will take home IDR 1.000.000.000 (USD 76,000) while the team which emerged second will earn IDR 500.000.000 (USD 38,000).
