JAKARTA (17 Feb 2012) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) have registered 28 players for their final Group E match of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain on 29 February 2012 at the National Stadium in Manama.
Bob Hippy, the PSSI National Team coordinator, confirmed that the 28 players – which included 12 players that had played at the SEA Games in Indonesia last year – have been registered with the AFC.
“We have already made the registration with the AFC where we hope that the synergy with the team will be positive for the task ahead,” said Bob Hippy.
Other than having the centralized training in Batu, the Indonesian national team will also be playing a friendly against Persebaya Surabaya on 24 February 2012 before their departure to Bahrain two days later.
The team, which has yet to pick up a point in the group after five matches, is under the guidance of newly-appointed chief coach Aji Santoso.
In the meantime, Persipura Jayapura’s return to the AFC Champions’ League came to an abrupt end when they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Australia’s Adelaide United 3-0 in the one-off qualifying round at the Hindmarsh Stadium yesterday.
The absence of injured goal poacher Boaz Salossa was telling on Persipura as Nigel Boogaard slammed the lead on 12th minute before adding the second goal off Evgeniy Levchenko’s header in the 57th minute.
Adelaide then added the third and final goal six minutes to the end from Sergio Van Dijk’s short range effort.
