BANGKOK (31 July 2008) – A 1-0 win over Samud Songkram on the weekend has given joint-leaders of the Thai Premier League 2008, Provincial Electric the confidence to face Tobacco Monopoly in two days.
The Electric Man have now garnered 33 points from 17 matches – and share the same top spot with current league leaders BEC Tero Sasana, who will also be on the road against Port Authority FC on 2 August 2008. But BEC Tero – who beat Bangkok University 3-0 in their last game – lead the standings on better goal difference with 15 as against Provincial Electric’s seven. In the meantime, former league leaders Chonburi FC seem to have lost their momentum when they slipped to a scoreless draw against strugglers Chula Sinthana. The one point was a repeat of the 2-2 draw they scored against TOT FC the previous week. But Chonburi will have the chance to pick up the full points in their next game when they entertain Customs Department – currently second from bottom – at home.
