HANOI (16 Nov 2012) – The indications are certainly not good. And following the rumblings of the last several months, rumours are now abound that the V-League is facing problems.
The arrest of Nguyen Duc Kien – the chairman of the Vietnam (VPF) – for alleged business practices, and added with the economic uncertainties facing the country, it has now led to several clubs facing dissolution.
With clubs at both the top flight of the V-League and also First Division still uncertain, it has now put the pressure on several national players currently on duty for the AFF Suzuki Cup.
Among the players affected are Le Cong Vinh and Pham Thanh Luong currently with Duc Kien’s Hanoi FC and Nguyen Gia Tu with Ninh Binh FC.
Others in the same predicament are Tran Dinh Dong, An Van Hoan and Nguyen Trong Hoang with Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA).
Truong Dinh Luat and Bui Tan Truong are also in the same situation with their club Saigon Xuan Thanh FC as is striker Nguyen Quang Hai’s future with his club Navibank Saigon.
With such issues still at hand, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and also the VPF have decided to extend club registration for the V-League and also the First Division 2013 to mid-December.
