JAKARTA (5 May 2009) – Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has given the permission to have the President’s Cup to be used as a sign of youth footbal supremacy for the recently launched Indonesia Education League (LPI).
The LPI which is a collaboration between the Indonesia Ministry of Education, the Menegpora office and the Indonesia FA (PSSI) will begin in the middle of May or in the early part of June this year. “The President has given us the assurance that he will put in his decision officially at the nearest possible time,” said Herman Chaniago, PSSI deputy general secretary. There will be a total of 124, 068 matches being played and where they will be broken up into three distinct divisions – Primary schools, Secondary schools and Higher Education. Some 5,590 competition venues will also be involved in a tournament which will last between five to six months with 50 thousand schools from 473 cities and 33 provinces taking part. |
