KUALA LUMPUR (19 Feb 2012) – Newcomers Preak Khan Reach FC of Cambodia and LIONSXII of Singapore made great stride in round one of the Malaysia FA Cup when they each overcame their respective opponents to ensure their progress into the next stage of the competition yesterday.
Preah Khan Reach, who had only recently won the Hun Sen Cup 2012 when they beat Naga Corp FC in the final, showed that they can be a force to be contend with when they beat Pulau Pinang 2-0.
LIONSXII on the other hand had little trouble to oust club side UiTM FC 3-0. FA Cup holders Terengganu also advanced into the next round when they beat PDRM 4-0 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Elsewhere, Kelantan beat Sarawak 2-1 at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kuala Lumpur blasting MP Muar 3-0, Perak edging ATM 1-0, Selangor thumped Shahzan Muda 4-0.
In the meantime, Malaysia Cup 2011 champions Negeri Sembilan fell to a 2-1 loss to Johor FC at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi as Melaka were also at the receiving end following their 4-0 loss to Betaria FC. Former doubles champions Johor were also bundled out of the first round when they conceded a 2-0 loss at home to T-Team
