PHNOM PENH (18 March 2010) – With less than two weeks to go to the start of the Metfone Cambodian League, former national coach Prak Sovannara has been relieved of his duties at Preah Khan Reach FC.
It is believed that officials at Preah Khan have decided to part ways with Prak following the latter’s failure to lead the team to the crown of the 2010 Samdech Hun Sen Cup which ended recently. “The management set a target for him to win the Hun Sen Cup after failing to win the league in 2009, but were disappointed that we ended up with a bronze medal,” said a club official. Last season, Preah Khan lost out the chance to win the Cambodian Premier League when after taking the lead for much of the season, they faltered in the last few matches to allow Naga Corp FC to win the overall championship. They eventually finished the season on third. It is believed that the team – which had Czech born tactician Niklas Deia in 2008 – will be employing a foreign coach to deliver the goods for the team this year. |
