BANGKOK (30 March 2010) – Osotspa M-150 Saraburi could not have begun their Thai Premier League (TPL) campaign this year on a better note than scoring a close 1-0 win over Thai FA Cup winners Thai Port FC at their new Saraburi Stadium.
Following sustained pressure in the opening quarter of an hour, Osotspa finally prised open their opponent’s defence in the 26th minute when Kupfah Boonmatoon slammed home from close range. Thai Port FC tried to get back into the game in the second half and they almost found the equalizer but a 71st minute effort from Thai international Sarayoot Chaikamdee came off the crossbar instead. In the meantime at the Nong Prue Municipal Stadium, hosts Pattaya United made their debut in the TPL with a 3-1 beating of Navy Rayong. Cameroon star Takam Ludovick struck first blood for Pattaya before Thana Chanaboot added the second goal for the ‘Blue Dolphins’ just before the break. And while Navy did finally found their first goal of the game through Wuthichai Arsucheewa, there was no stopping Pattaya from grabbing the full points when they rallied to their third goal of the game in the closing stages. On the other hand, Insee Police United fought out a 1-1 draw with Bangkok United – with Satrupai Srinarong giving the city side the lead in the 56th minute before Japan’s Takahiro Kawamura scored the equaliser ten minutes from time. At the Army stadium, the Royal Thai Army were held to a 2-2 draw by Si Sa Ket FC. The Army went in front with a goal from Jakkrapong Somboon and when Tatree Sriha added another just after half-time they appeared to be heading for victory. But Si Sa Ket fought back with a goal from Brazilian Valci Teixeira Junior in the 72nd minute and Piyawat Thongmaen grabbed a last minute equalizer for both teams to share the spoils. |
