KUALA LUMPUR (3 March 2012) – More than just the score line Ong Kim Swee, the chief coach of the Harimau Muda side playing in the S-League, was proud of the attitude of his chargers following their 3-0 win over Tanjong Pagar United at their Yishun Stadium base.
The win was Harimau Muda’s second in as many matches in the S-League 2012 which now placed them on second at the table – three points behind current leaders Albirex Niigita with nine points from three matches played. Third is Woodlands Wellington who have won six points from three games.
“The players played really well. They were very positive following their loss to Japan (in a 2012 Olympic Games qualifying match) in their last game. And it was very important for them to be positive in the game against Tanjong Pagar,” added Kim Swee.
“The team was under tremendous pressure in the second half but the held their nerves for the win. It was important for them to be cool when they are ahead and protect their lead.”
Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim nailed the lead on 14 minute off a cross from Affize Faisal before Gary Steven Robbat doubled Harimau Muda’s with a minute left in the first half. A red card on Tanjong Pagar’s Hafiz Osman gave the Malaysians the advantage and some moments later they were awarded with a penalty that was converted by A. Thamil Arasu.
