YANGON (6 Feb 2013) – A second-half strike from Jose Elmer Porteria gave the Philippines a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts Myanmar in a friendly that was played at the Youth Training Centre in Thuwunna tonight.
The score was tied at the end of the first 45 minutes as both teams tried in vain to stamp their domination. But in the end, 18-year-old striker Porteria who plays for Kaya FC in the United Football League (UFL) slotted home the only goal in the game to give the Philippines the win.
Both Myanmar and the Philippines are using this game to fine-tune their squad for the AFC Challenge Cup in March.
