JAKARTA (1 August 2012) – Former Indonesia national captains Ponaryo Astaman and Bambang Pamungkas will be available to face Valencia CF on 4 August following their return to the national fold this week.
This is the first time that Ponaryo and Bambang are making a return to the national team under Indonesia FA (PSSI) president Djohar Arifin. And following the recent MOU between the PSSI and the breakaway parties (KPSI), the Indonesia national team is once again fortified by the return of several stalwarts.
“I hope that this is the beginning of better things to come for Indonesia. We want to show that despite of whatever is happening in the FA of Indonesia (PSSI), we are still behind the national team,” added Ponaryo (pix).
Bambang currently plays for Persija Jakarta while Firman Utina and Ponaryo Astaman are with Sriwijaya FC, Firman Utina dan Ponaryo Astaman. The team also has Ferdinand Sinaga, Abdul Rahman, Wahyu Widjiastanto, Bima Sakti, Valentino, Samsul Arief and Wahyu Tri Nugroho.
The team is handled by Nil Maizar.
