PHNOM PENH (28 Feb 2010) – Phnom Penh Crown FC exacted revenge on Naga Corp FC when they booked their place in the final of the Hun Sen Cup with a pulsating 4-3 win in the penalty shootout.
The score at the end of regulation was 3-3. Phnom Penh, who were denied the Cambodia Premier League crown last season by Naga Corp, were all fired up in the tie that was attended by more than 8,000 fans. And national striker Keo Sok Ngan did not disappoint when he blasted in two goals in the 14th and 19th minute following an earlier strike from Chan Chaaya in the ninth minute to put Phnom Penh comfortably 3-0 in front at the break. But Naga Corp were not about to take things lying down and they brought their act together after the break for Chik Sokhom to score the first goal in the 55th as Sun Sovanasrithy (75th) and Kim Chanburith (88th) then scored the other goals to force the game into penalty shootout. In the meantime, National Defense had to suffer some anxious moments in the second half before they were able to walk away 1-0 winners over Preah Khan Reach FC in the other semi-final tie. And early first half strike from Oum Kompheak in the 27th minute set the tone for the rest of the game as Preah Khan came close on several occasions but was just a tad off to draw level. The final match of the Hun Sen Cup will be played on 6 March 2010 at the National Olympic Stadium. |
