PHNOM PENH (22 March 2012) – Former champions Phnom Penh Crown FC found themselves in an unfamiliar place after their first match in the Metfone Cambodia League where the 3-0 whitewash they suffered at the hands of Preah Khan Reach FC sent them to the bottom of the heap.
Phnom Penh Crown are perhaps the most successful club in Cambodia with four Cambodian League titles and also two Hun Sen Cup crown. They were also the AFC President’s Cup runners-up in 2011.
But in their first game of the season, Phnom Penh failed to find the rhythm against Preah Khan when the latter picked up the full points off goals from Khuon Laboravy (13th and 90th minute) and Prak Mony Uodom (38th ).
On the other hand, National Defense Ministry shot to the top of the standings after edging Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming in 75th minute off Pov Phearith. They are one point ahead of second-placed Preah Khan Reach FC.
