PHNOM PENH (23 June 2013) – Former champions Phnom Penh Crown FC strengthened their position on third and are eyeing the second spot in the Metfone Cambodia League 2013 when they disposed of Svay Rieng FC 3-1 this week.
Elroy Van Der Hooft scored a brace with goals in the 18th and 22nd minute before Leng Makara put Phnom Penh comfortably in front with the third goal in the 77th minute.
Svay Rieng scored a later reply deep in injury time Phany Ratha but it was just a tad too late for a revival as they remained on second with 30 points from 16 games played.
Phnom Penh are still on third with 28 points but having played game less.
In the meantime, Boueng Ket Rubber Field snapped a two-match defeat to beat National Police 3-1 when they came back from a goal down after Noeu Seseila’s early goal in the third minute.
Bisan George grabbed a brace with two goals in the 45th and 63rd minute, after Chan Vathanaka had put them in front as early as the ninth minute.
Elsewhere, Naga Corp FC fell to a 2-1 loss to Build Bright United while National Defense Ministry edged Asia Europe University 2-1 as Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC blasted General Secretariat 7-2.
